National "SLOW DOWN" Day – Takes place from 7am Friday 24th May to 7am Saturday 25th May 2019
The aim of this "SLOW DOWN" DAY is to encourage all drivers to slow down and maintain within the speed limits.
Excessive speed is a major contributory factor in road one-third of all fatal collisions. The higher the speed, the greater the likelihood is of a collision happening and the more severe the outcome of that collision.
Even a 1% reduction in average speed will bring about a 4% reduction in fatal collisions. Hence, reducing speed is essential to improving road safety.
