The Role of the Heritage Officer

The main aspects of the role of Heritage Officer are to:

  • raise awareness of County Leitrim’s built, cultural and natural heritage;
  • provide advice and information on heritage matters to members of the public and within Leitrim County Council;
  • propose heritage policy/strategies for the benefit of County Leitrim and the wider region;
  • collect data and conduct research on aspects of Leitrim Leitrim’s heritage;
  • promote best practice in relation to heritage matters; and
  • prepare and implement the County Leitrim Heritage Plan in conjunction with the County Leitrim Heritage Forum.
