Approximately €1.7m worth of funding has been secured by Leitrim County Council as Lead Partner on behalf of the County Leitrim Peace IV Partnership.
‘Remember Leitrim War Dead’ relates to the Building Positive Relations theme. The first part of this project involves Facilitation and Mediation to explore possibilities for the ‘Remembering Leitrim War Dead’ Project which aims to remember and commemorate the men and women of Leitrim who were affected by the First World War.
Consultation will take place with interested parties and with due sensitivity as to location, security, content etc., the nature of the project will attract participation from a wide range of groups and shades of opinion. These include historical societies, protestant church based groups, the Orange Order, Republican supporters, schools, libraries, interest groups or any other interested parties.
These consultations will take place between May and July 2018 and a report with recommendations on what form, if any, memorial/commemorative activity/projects should take will be submitted to the Leitrim County PEACE IV Partnership.
