Leitrim Youth Theatre Company is a professional youth theatre organisation dedicated to providing opportunities for young people who wish to become involved in acting and theatre. LYTC consists of both junior and senior groups and has branches in Manorhamilton, Carrick on Shannon and Carrigallen. While the main recruiting time for all braches is in the run up to the commencemnt of term in September and January, feel free to contact any of the three centres at the contacts below at any time during the year.
If you are aged between 10 and 13, or between 14 and 18 and think you’d like to work with actors and directors, learn new skills, go to see shows all over the country, meet other young people interested in theatre, perform in front of an audience – and have a lot of fun doing it – then Leitrim Youth Theatre Company could be for you.
As a junior group member, you will take part in weekly workshops exploring your own creativity and imagination whilst attaining new skills, discovering hidden talents and making new friends. Senior group members also take part in weekly workshops covering all areas of theatre from performance to technical production. As well as working with your LYTC Director, we invite leading national and international actors, directors and other theatre specialists to give workshops in various aspects of theatre from time to time.
As a member of Youth Theatre Ireland, LYTC members have access to numerous national events and opportunities such as National Youth Theatre and the Young Critics Programme. While many senior members aspire to go on to careers in theatre or the film industry, it is equally rewarding for those who have no desire to pursue theatre professionally - and for everyone LYTC is a supportive youth network where members develop their creativity, gain self confidence and make new friends.

Bright Sparks – A Leitrim Youth Theatre Carrigallen Drama Project
If you’re aged between 14 and 18 with an interest in theatre and drama and struggling to cope in your school environment, an early school leaver, unique special abilities, or feeling you don’t fit in to other activities, Bright Sparks might be for you.
This unique project aims to provide quality theatre skills delivered at a slow pace, in a small group, inviting the participants to explore their own unique talents, find their own voice, discover new ways of expressing themselves, and engage in a fun creative way where these skills gained, can be translated to stage, or to the bigger stage of life.
The next term of 10 weeks commences on Thursday 20th September from 7.30pm to 9pm in Bredagh Old School Carrigallen. This project is part funded by Leitrim County Council, The Arts Council and the HSE.
There are currently a limited number of places available. For further information and enrolment details please contact Maura at 087 903643.
We want to ensure that there are no restrictions to your son or daughter availing of youth theatre in your community, so if you have difficulty with payment of youth theatre fees, please contact your youth theatre branch in confidence at the numbers above or Leitrim County Council Arts Office at 071 96 21694 or email Christine Kelly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
