Save the date – June 15th – Cruinniú na nÓg celebrating creativity in young people

Do you have an idea for a creative event for children and young people that you would like to see happen?

Cruinniú na nÓg 2019 - the national day of creativity for children and young people - will take place on Saturday 15th June this year. The model is similar to Culture Night except that events are held during the day, making them much more accessible to children and young people.

So if you work with children and young people in someplace like a school, crèche or youth club, now is the time to do something really special. Have a chat with them, see what they’re interested in and develop a plan together. Maybe they’ve always wanted to make a film, perform in a band, do some incredible experiments, or explore their own community in a creative way. If you’ve got an idea, we can help make it happen.

Closing date for applications is Monday 1st April.

Leitrim, Sligo and Roscommon County Councils announce recipients of two new film awards.

As part of a new partnership Sligo, Leitrim and Roscommon County Councils have come together with filmmakers from the three counties with a view to enabling the film sector here to grow and develop. Each of the three local authorities involved in this project recognise the value of film as an artform and the contribution that film can make to the region - socially, culturally and economically. In adopting a regional approach, we recognise that we can achieve a lot more by harnessing the capacity, resources and energy of agencies and practitioners of all three counties.

As part of that, for 2018, we have introduced two new bursary programmes for filmmakers based in Sligo, Leitrim or Roscommon - A Film Collaboration Bursary for collaboration between a writer and filmmaker and a Film Completion Award for film projects already underway.
